WHO ARE WE?
We are a part time music school offering lessons based in, Table View and Durbanville, catering for every kind of musical enthusiast from the shower singer to the up and coming band member, from junior school goers and high school teens to the corporate business owner.
Wether your a parent looking for lessons for your children, an adult looking for classes as a hobby, an artist looking to improve on your skills, a singer getting ready for a big show, a speaker needing help with projection and voice control or even someone who requires vocal rehabilitation. We have you covered.
WHAT MAKES LEGACY DIFFERENT?
Legacy School of Music not only prides itself on offering quality training, but also connecting with each student, offering them an environment to be less concerned about being a rockstar and more about being the best version of themselves, finding and harnessing their own sound.
Each student is different, each student requires a different approach and it is in this area that Legacy School of Music aims to do their best to meet each student where they are at.
We strive to offer an environment where each student is encouraged to forge their own path instead of the traditional expectation that if you are learning to play an instrument you must automatically be in a band, perform on stage or even enter into the Music Industry as a career.
Not every student has this mindset, in fact very few do and this is where Legacy School of Music works hard at finding what really interests each student. What really gets them excited. This is what the teachers at Legacy School of Music really love about teaching music.
WHAT IF I DO WANT THE ROCKSTAR VIBES?
Don’t get us wrong, although we offer a more organic, holistic approach to our classes, we absolutely do still cater for being able to rock out. Throughout the year we offer many opportunities to perform wether it be through our informal Open Mic Nights or our gig shows, Fire Verse Sessions, our in-house Eisteddfods or even through internationally recognised graded exams with over 200+ Legacy student having entered so far with incredibly high results, we have plenty opportunities for you to work on developing yourself as an artist. Each stage of the development is used to establish a well rounded version of yourself. If you are wondering where to start, “It Begins Here”
HOW DO THE LESSONS WORK?
Lessons are 30 minutes once a week with the option of 45min or 60 minute classes for those who wish to have longer lessons. In these sessions you will learn fundamental elements that you can practice over the week leading up to your next class. Students are also welcome to book more classes per week should they wish.
DO YOU HAVE RECORDING FACILITIES?
Our Table View Branch is fitted out with a project style recording studio with both a separate vocal booth and live room for more space and can cater for various musicians wanting to record singles, albums or even voice overs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Ofcourse you can!
Its important to note that you have already been doing this your whole life.
Does walking not involve rhythm? You literally walk to a 4 -4 rhythm. I.e the most common timing in all Rock and Pop music.
Do you not hum to the radio? That hum is a tone, a key, a pitch. We just need to help train your brain to recognise that pitch and key so you can exploit it.
Do you not wiggle when a cool tune comes on? Did you fall over ( don’t answer that ). The point is your internal musical ability has always been there just like how we can all punch and kick but martial arts classes helps you to define it, improve it and then wield it like the bad ass that you are.
Same goes for music!
Now lets get you started.
We believe talent is age-less and that everyone should be given an opportunity to try.
Therefore we encourage all ages to make a free booking so that we can evaluate a possible path forward.
Our minimum requirements for lessons are once a week for 30min. We do offer longer lessons at 45min or 60min slots at varying prices.
Upon signing up, you will choose an available slot that best suits you and that will be your recurring slot each week. Its very important for both the student and the teacher to have consistent classes each week to ensure your progress does not fall behind.
If you need to change the lesson time, you are welcome to chat with your teacher and they will change the time with you no problem.
You are entitled to reschedule a lesson up to 2 hours before the class should you be unable to attend the lesson. If however you do not reschedule, do not pitch or do not cancel the class with a reschedule arranged within 7 days of your class, you will forfeit the class and still be liable for payment.
We offer upfront, termly payments via EFT, Snapscan or Card Payments.
Classes can also be purchased directly from our website.
We also offer a monthly subscription option via debit order.
We offer the following voucher scenarios:
For both Termly and Monthly classes we require a 1 month notice. Cancellations can be done either via email at office@legacyschoolofmusic.com or on our WhatsApp Line 068 535 4924
Although we technically do not offer a free lesson, we do offer a free meeting opportunity to meet with the respective teacher and discuss your requirements. This can be setup using our book now button above.
Exactly, it’s an empty sales pitch and we’re just not about that life.
One of the main reasons we do not prefer the free lesson option over a free meeting is our lessons are very personalized and cater for vastly different people requiring very different things.
We prefer taking some time in a free meeting to get to know you, discuss your dreams, aspirations and requirements before formulating your class outline.
A free lesson can be a great way to see what the lessons are about, but one class will never truly demonstrate what we are truly about.
